Daniel Kostenko was born September 17th, 2000 in Walla Walla Washington. Early in life Daniel had developed the uncanny ability to keep perfect time with songs he would hear on the radio and on the stereo at home. Daniel developed 75% hearing loss at an early age and so the only way his parents could explain his gift of rhythm was that he was "feeling" the music. His hearing loss disappeared a couple of years later and his musical talent rose to the surface. He would start banging on different items in perfect time with the music and would try to mimic the fills that the drummers would play. He would also hum the melody line at the same time. Daniel's folks recognized this ability and purchased a used drum kit for Daniel. He got his first drum at age 2 and a full drum kit at age 3 and started playing along to classic rock songs that his parents would play in the car and at home. He would only need to hear the song 2 or 3 times and then would sit down and play the entire song while humming along with the melody line. Daniel is completely self taught, he is currently playing with another very talented 11 year old gutarist/singer boy named Ray Goren from Irvine CA.
Daniel is the middle child of three. He has an older sister and a younger brother. He is in every way a normal 10 year old except for his musical talent. Not too many kids at age 7 could hum the entire melody line and guitar solo to Pink Floyd songs and not too many 7 year olds know every word and the entire melody line to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown's song "I Feel Good". He loves Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Phil Collins and most other Classic Rock groups.
Daniel also enjoys soccer and other sports. Since his mom and dad were born and raised in Russia he also knows quite a bit about his Russian heritage. His family has lived in the United States for 11 years.
